  • Our guided hike in the remote and wild Jotunheimen National Park in Central Norway takes you into a region of pure wilderness. Only a 4-hour bus ride from the capital, Oslo, this area is rich in mountains, glaciers, pale blue lakes and freely roaming reindeer. During this trek we will wander off the beaten path, to the corners of the park where few other hikers go. Among the highlights are vast open valleys, an optional summit of Norway’s second highest peak Glittertinden (2452m) and the famous Besseggen ridge walk. The route takes you through the very heart of Jotunheimen’s wild and beautiful wilderness, where we may very well encounter a herd of reindeer and taste fresh clean mountain water right from the source.
  • This hike is challenging. You will need to back-pack for 6 days, carrying your own gear. All huts provide bedding and most provide towels and indoor shoes. The mountain refuges / huts in Norway are well serviced, with 2 or 4 bedded rooms and hot showers in shared facilities. The weather can be unpredictable and packing with the correct gear is essential. This trek is suitable for those who have comfortably completed at least one of our other treks in recent years.  You must be confident on uneven terrain and comfortable hiking up to 20km / 12.5 miles per day in a mountain environment, carrying your own gear. Please note we have graded this ‘Grade 5’ because you have to backpack for 6 days, carrying your own gear. The trekking is no more difficult than the Dolomites Traverse.

  1. Meet at our hotel in Oslo 3* Hotel
  2. Morning bus from Oslo to Gjendesheim. Mountain Hut
  3. Ferry to Memurubu, trek to Gjendebu. Mountain Hut
  4. Trek from Gjendebu to Leirvassbu. Mountain Hut
  5. Trek from Leirvassbu to Spiterstulen. MountainHut
  6. Trek from Spiterstulen to Glitterheim. Mountain Hut
  7. Free day – optional hike to Glitterheim summit. Mountain Hut
  8. Trek from Glitterheim to Memurubu. Mountain Hut
  9. Trek from Memurubu to Gjendesheim, bus to Beitostolen. 4* Hotel
  10. Early morning bus to Oslo. Free time to explore the city. 3* Hotel
  11. Trek ends. Check out of the hotel after breakfast.

• Getting Here

  Oslo is the capital city of Norway and easily accessible by air with direct flights from all over Europe, the east coast of USA and Dubai.  Our joining hotel is located in downtown Oslo: it is easily accessed from the airport by the airport express train to Oslo S (Oslo Central Station) in 20mins.  The hotel is a 5 min walk from there.

• Accommodation

  In Oslo we stay at the 3-star Comfort Hotel. While on trek we stay in mountain huts.  These can range from rustic to modern, and some say the Norwegian mountain huts are among the best in the world. All your bedding is provided.  In Beitostolen we stay at the 4-star Radisson Blu.

• How to Book Your Trek

  Step 1 – Choose Your Trek

  Select your trek and check availability, either by phoning us or sending an on-line enquiry.

  Step 2 – Complete a Booking Form

  Complete an on-line booking form and pay a deposit of 20% of the tour and confirm you have read and accept the booking conditions.

  Step 3 – How to Pay

  Payments are in British Pounds (GBP). You can pay by bank transfer, credit or debit card.

  Please indicate how you wish to pay on the booking form.

  If you wish to pay by bank transfer we will send you the account details by e-mail.

  If you wish to pay by credit card or debit card we will send you an email via worldpay that allows you to pay online. We accept GBP only.

  Please note that your money is safe when you book with us. All monies are deposited and held in trust by the trustees of the Travel Trust Association (TTA). Only when your tour has finished do we receive your money.

  Step 4 – Email Confirmation
